4.1-Tactical is a new micro rappel system specifically developed for military and law enforcement.
It gives the operator tactical advantage in non-planned descents and evacuations.
Released on the marked in February 2024.
It is designed to be intuitive and easy to operate in stressful situations.
The index finger in conjunction with the middle finger controls the descent.
Squeeze the handle to go, squeeze harder to go faster and slow down by letting the handle return. Hard stops are made by letting go.
Setting the friction mode to the approximate weight of the user gives the operator the same handle characteristics in its whole weight range.
This eliminates the use of a hand on the brake side of the rope and makes the decent smooth and safe under any condition.
The brake can be moved up and down the rope for rapid positioning.
With a weight of only 640g (with 20m rope) the system gives the operator better handling characteristic with only one hand than most rappel systems weighing 5x more.
The company has developed its own patented technology that makes rappelling on a 4mm rope not only possible but better than most 11mm rope descender devices.
Rapid Rappel 4.1-Tactical is developed with the help of the Norwegian Defense Research Establishment.
All metal parts are CNC machined to ensure consistent production quality.
Webbing and rope is sewn at our inhouse production facility.
Every unit is produced, assembled and tested in Norway.
The system is tested by VVUU, a.s. to EN 341:2012 / EN 365:2005 standards. It is tested as a type/class- 2/D, single use only. Military units and other law enforcement agencies may be exempt from these regulations and use this device more than once at the operator's discretion and in accordance with SOP.
The maximum rated load is 140kg. During development, testing and certification 175kg was used to perform the 40m dry, wet, wet/cold and very cold condition rappel.
In case of an unexpected freefall during the rappel, the brake is designed to slip down the rope to limit the force.
During certification a 140kg test mass was dropped 60cm and the maximum peak force was measured at 4.1kN.
The maximum static load applied to the system during certification was 8.2kN for 3minutes without failure.
Technora has two distinct advantages over traditional aramid fiber ropes: It has a higher decompression temperature 500`C (934F) and better flex fatigue resistance so there is less loss of strength when used multiple times.
The 4mm rope has a min breaking strength of 1560kg (3750lb) and average strength of 1700kg (3450lb)
